Leadership: Core Value Highlight

The Rush Core Value of Leadership is the core value highlight for the month of January. In the remaining days of the month, the importance of leadership at every level in the organization will be addressed. Whether a Rush employee is coaching and leading as a national technical director or working as a registrar or administrator at the local level, leadership reveals itself in a variety of forms.

Coaching is one of the most apparent showcases of leadership. Gateway Rush Executive Director Joe Reiniger commented on the success of an organization based on this core value,

“Leadership is bringing out the best in every player, coach, administrator, parent, etc. If you do that, your organization will flourish.”

National Technical Director Arian Hoxha explained a key point in leadership structure: diversifying your leadership team.

“Even the best leaders must not make the error of holding all the weight of an entity on their shoulders,” Hoxha said.

“We must understand that a good leader allows others to lead and take initiative, solve problems and address issues. It is critical we help others learn how to lead or how to respond to leadership.”

Administrative leadership is equally as important as those whose leadership sees the field. Rush Soccer’s P.R. & Marketing Director Dana Streufert detailed how leadership has become tangible for her life,

“As I work on a team within my job as Marketing Director for Rush Soccer at the national level and as I connect with other Rush clubs on the local level, I am continually reminded how valuable my playing experience was on the pitch as I learned to be a part of a team, finding my voice when necessary and working diligently to lead through actions at other times.”

Streufert continued, “It has undoubtedly aided in my experience working on a team in the workplace, which comes with some leadership responsibilities of varying forms as well. I recently learned how important it is to give team members the ability to be creative and give them responsibilities to a greater degree to help them grow and adapt to challenges. Similar to how I was coached as a soccer player and how I hope to coach others, relaying a sense of trust and confidence to those you oversee matters and aids in others’ overall enjoyment of their work too. I see that as very fundamental to leadership: respect, support and encouragement.”

As the month of January continues, leadership will continue to be highlighted tangibly within Rush Soccer.
